More than a drink.
A ritual that brings us together.
Mate is part of Maria’s Argentinian homeland. At Lupercia, you’ll find selected yerbas, gourds and bombillas – and a personal introduction to traditional preparation.
Discover mate
One flavour.
So many connections.
In Argentina, mate is part of everyday life: people prepare it for each other, pass it around and take their time. Togetherness sets the pace, with no need to hurry.
Maria grew up with this culture. In the tea room, she shows how different yerbas can taste and how the vessel, bombilla and brewing work together.

One gourd.
So many connections.
Traditionally, mate is shared in a group: one person prepares it, tops it up and passes the gourd around. This simple ritual creates closeness, invites conversation and gives the shared moment its own rhythm.
This is how
the ritual begins.
With a little practice, preparation becomes a familiar gesture. Maria will show you every step in the tea room and answer your questions.
- 01
Add the yerba
Fill the gourd about two-thirds full with mate leaves.
- 02
Tilt the leaves
Gently shaking the gourd creates space on one side for the bombilla.
- 03
Pour the water
Gently pour hot, not boiling, water into the same spot.
- 04
Share & refill
The mate is topped up again and again and passed around in company.
